Kerala’s rail network has received a significant boost with the launch of four new train services, including three Amrit Bharat Express trains and one passenger train. Flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the new services aim to strengthen long-distance and regional connectivity while offering passengers affordable and reliable travel options.
The expansion enhances Kerala’s rail links with Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, eastern India and the Northeast, marking an important step toward improving mobility and easing travel for commuters and long-distance passengers alike.
According to the Railways, the Amrit Bharat Express trains are designed as non-AC, budget-friendly options with improved amenities, positioned as a faster and reliable choice for long-distance travel.

Nagercoil-Mangaluru Amrit Bharat Express
The Nagercoil-Mangaluru Express (Train Nos. 16329/16330) will connect southern Tamil Nadu with coastal Karnataka via Kerala. The train will stop at Thiruvananthapuram Central, Varkala Sivagiri, Kollam Junction, Karunagappalli, Kayamkulam Junction, Mavelikara, Chengannur, Tiruvalla, Changanasseri, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Aluva, Thrissur, Shoranur Junction, Tirur, Kozhikode, Thalassery, Kannur and Kasaragod.
Thiruvananthapuram-Tambaram Amrit Bharat Express
The Thiruvananthapuram Central-Tambaram Express (Train Nos. 16121/16122) will provide a direct long-distance link between Kerala and the Chennai suburban region. Scheduled halts include Chengalpattu Junction, Villupuram Junction, Vriddhachalam Junction, Ariyalur, Srirangam, Tiruchchirappalli Junction, Dindigul Junction, Madurai Junction, Virudhunagar Junction, Satur, Kovilpatti, Tirunelveli Junction, Valliyur, Nagercoil Town and Kuzhithura.
Thiruvananthapuram-Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express
The Charlapalli-Thiruvananthapuram North Amrit Bharat Express (Train Nos. 17041/17042) will connect Kerala with Telangana. The train will halt at Nalgonda, Miryalaguda, Sattenapalle, Guntur Junction, Tenali Junction, Bapatla, Ongole, Nellore, Renigunta Junction, Tiruttani, Katpadi Junction, Jolarpettai Junction, Salem Junction, Erode Junction, Tiruppur, Coimbatore Junction, Palakkad Junction, Thrissur, Aluva, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Changanasseri, Tiruvalla, Chengannur, Mavelikara, Kayamkulam Junction, Karunagappalli, Kollam Junction and Varkala Sivagiri.
Thrissur-Guruvayur passenger train
In addition, a new Thrissur-Guruvayur passenger train has been introduced to improve short-distance regional connectivity and facilitate pilgrimage travel within Kerala.
Railway officials said the new services are expected to significantly enhance mobility, support regional development and provide passengers with economical travel options across southern and eastern India.
