Akasa Air recently announced an enhancement to its pet carriage policy, allowing for larger furry companions onboard. The airline’s ‘Pets on Akasa‘ policy, introduced in November 2022, has seen significant uptake among pet owners, facilitating over 3200 pet travels to date. Responding to customer feedback, Akasa Air has upped the weight limit from 7 kg to 10 kg (including the container) in passenger cabins, ensuring more comfort for pets during travel.
In addition to the weight limit adjustment, the airline has extended the validity of pet travel certificates from three days to 15 days, offering greater flexibility for short-term travel plans. Passengers can now enjoy added perks for their pets, including pre-booked window seats, priority baggage delivery, and priority boarding, enhancing the overall flying experience.
Akasa Air’s commitment to pet welfare extends beyond policy changes. Collaborating with the Umeed for Animals Foundation, the airline ensures the implementation of best practices in pet travel, underscoring its dedication to animal welfare.
Belson Coutinho, Co-Founder and Chief Marketing & Experience Officer at Akasa Air, expressed gratitude for the valuable feedback from pet parents, which has shaped these updates. He emphasized the airline’s ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive and humane travel experience for passengers and their furry companions.
