Yamunotri Temple Welcomes Devotees for Chardham Yatra 2024

The revered Yamunotri Temple, nestled in the scenic landscapes of Uttarakhand, India, is all set to open its gates for devotees on May 10, marking the beginning of the Chardham Yatra 2024. Regarded as one of the Chota Char Dhams, this temple is believed to be the sacred source of the Yamuna River, drawing thousands of Hindu pilgrims on a spiritual journey through rugged terrains each year.

Opening and Closing Dates: Open from May 10 to Oct 31

The organizers have chosen the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya, as per the Hindu Panchang, for the opening of the temple on May 10, 2024. Closing Date: October 31, 2024 – The Char Dham Temple Committee has set October 31 as the closing date for the pilgrimage season.
General Information:

Aarti Timings: Morning and Evening Aarti timings are from 6:30 to 07:30 AM and 06:30 to 07:30 PM, respectively.
Darshan Hours: The temple welcomes devotees for general viewing from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM and from 2 PM to 8 PM. Note: No darshan is permitted between 12 PM and 2 PM daily.

Plan your pilgrimage shortly after the temple’s opening or just before its closure for favorable weather conditions, ideal for trekking. Avoid the monsoon season (late June to August) due to heavy rains and the risk of landslides.

How to Reach:

By Air: Reach Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, situated approximately 210 km from Yamunotri, and proceed to Hanuman Chatti by taxi or bus.
By Rail: Dehradun Railway Station offers connectivity to major Indian cities. From there, head to Hanuman Chatti via road transport.
By Road: Enjoy a scenic drive from Dehradun towards Hanuman Chatti, passing through picturesque locales such as Mussoorie and Barkot. Hanuman Chatti serves as the starting point for the trek to Yamunotri.


Trekking Experience:
Embark on the exhilarating 6-kilometer trek from Hanuman Chatti to Yamunotri, offering breathtaking vistas of the Himalayas. Assistance such as ponies and palanquins are available for hire to ensure a comfortable journey amidst the awe-inspiring mountain landscape.

Accommodation:
Various accommodation options are available in Janki Chatti and its surroundings, catering to different preferences and budgets. Advance bookings are advisable, especially during the temple’s opening and closing dates when pilgrim footfall peaks.
