Noida Airport: A More Affordable and Convenient Choice Over Delhi’s IGI Airport

The forthcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, is set to redefine air travel by offering a cost-effective alternative to the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in Delhi. Travelers can expect to save up to INR 1,500 per flight ticket, making Noida Airport a budget-friendly option.

This exciting development is not only a win for passengers but also a significant boost to air travel accessibility in the region.

Price Difference

Initial reports indicate that ticket fares at Noida Airport will be around 10 to 15% cheaper than those at IGI Airport. For instance, if a flight from Delhi to Lucknow costs INR 3,500, a corresponding ticket from Noida Airport is expected to be approximately INR 2,800, a substantial cost reduction.

Uttar Pradesh Government’s Initiatives

The Uttar Pradesh government has taken proactive measures to reduce the Value Added Tax (VAT) on aviation fuel, aiming to make air travel more affordable. The decreased VAT rate in comparison to Delhi will result in more competitive airfares.Currently, a typical airfare from Delhi to Lucknow stands at Rs 3,500, while the same journey from Noida Airport is projected to cost around Rs 2,800, showcasing a significant cost-saving opportunity.

The Impact on Air Travel

As distances increase, the price difference will have a more pronounced effect, influencing the choices of air travelers. It’s expected that this attractive fare difference will significantly impact passenger numbers.

Moreover, the revenue generated from the airport’s operation is expected to be recovered by the construction company over a six-year period. After this period, income will be distributed among the airport’s shareholders based on their respective investments. This government-led initiative not only promotes accessible air travel but also ensures a fair distribution of returns in the future.

Infrastructure Development

The construction of Noida International Airport in Jewar is on track for completion by February of the following year, with passenger services scheduled to commence in October. Reports suggest that the inaugural day will see the takeoff of 65 airplanes from Noida International Airport.

Proximity

Spanning an extensive 1,334-hectare area in Jewar, Noida Airport offers convenient access to Delhi NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh via well-connected road networks. It is located just 40 km from Noida, 72 km from Delhi Airport, and 130 km from Agra, ensuring easy reach from various key locations.

Enhanced Passenger Experience

To further enhance the passenger experience, the Uttar Pradesh government is planning the establishment of a high-speed metro connection between Noida International Airport in Jewar and Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The proposed Airport Express Line, covering a distance of 72 km, is designed to provide a swift commute with only six stops, as stated by the Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) authorities. This efficient metro project is expected to reduce the one-way travel time to approximately one hour, ensuring an improved travel experience for passengers.

Noida International Airport stands as a more appealing option due to its cost-effectiveness, strategic location, and efforts to improve passenger services, making it a promising choice for travelers seeking a budget-friendly and convenient air travel experience.
