Delhi Metro’s ‘Tourist Smart Cards’ for G20 Summit Travel

In preparation for the upcoming G20 Summit in New Delhi, the Delhi Metro has unveiled a convenient solution for travelers with the introduction of ‘Tourist Smart Cards.’ Commencing from September 4th and running through September 13th, these specialized cards will be available at 36 metro stations across Delhi. This initiative aims to accommodate the expected surge in passenger traffic during the G20 Summit, according to officials familiar with the matter.

Two distinct categories of Tourist Smart Cards are available: one with a single-day validity and another offering unlimited travel for three days within the metro network.

Although these cards will remain accessible on regular days, we have established dedicated counters specifically for the G20 Summit. Passengers can obtain these cards for a duration of up to 10 days, as highlighted by a senior official.

As anticipation builds for the G20 Leaders’ Summit scheduled for September 9th to 10th in New Delhi, authorities have issued traffic advisories to ensure smooth travel for both residents and dignitaries alike.

Furthermore, special counters have been set up to serve G20 delegates and international visitors eager to explore the capital’s prominent tourist destinations upon their arrival in Delhi for the summit.

The 1-day Tourist Smart Card costs INR 200, and the 3-day variant is on sale for INR 500. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has clarified that this fee includes a refundable security deposit of INR 50.

Travelers interested in acquiring these cards should note that they can purchase them at 36 metro stations with established dedicated counters.

These stations include Kashmiri Gate, Chawri Bazar, Chandni Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, New Delhi, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Lok Kalyan Marg, Udyog Bhawan, and Supreme Court metro stations.
