Kerala to Keralam: What the Name Change Means for Travellers
Kerala is on the verge of getting a new official name. The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, passed the Kerala (Alteration of Name) Bill, 2026 by voice vote, paving the way for the state to be officially known as Keralam. The Lok Sabha had already cleared the Bill a day earlier, on August 11. The legislation, however, will become law only after it receives the President’s assent.
