Enhancing Beach Safety: Goa Introduces ‘No Selfie’ and ‘Safe Swim’ Zones

Recent reports reveal that Goa, under the guidance of a government-appointed entity, has implemented designated ‘no selfie’ and ‘safe swim’ zones on its beaches. This strategic move aims to bolster beach safety amidst the surge in tourist numbers.

According to sources, the responsible agency, tasked with daily weather and sea condition monitoring, takes proactive steps to establish these safety zones. Lifesavers from the agency diligently oversee and monitor these zones, ensuring the well-being of beachgoers.

An official familiar with the matter highlighted that, to date, Drishti Marine’s lifesavers have successfully rescued 392 individuals from drowning incidents along the state’s beaches this year. This initiative is a significant step towards safeguarding tourists, especially those drawn to Goa for its renowned beaches, acting as a preventive measure against untoward incidents.
