Dubai Airport Launches AI Corridor, Lets Travellers Clear Immigration in Seconds
For decades, international travel meant long lines, passport checks, and juggling a stack of documents. Dubai International Airport (DXB) is now changing that experience. The world’s busiest international hub has unveiled an AI-powered passenger corridor that clears travellers through immigration in seconds without showing a single document.
Part of the Travel Without Borders initiative, the system combines speed, security, and convenience. Instead of stopping at counters or scanning boarding passes, travellers walk through a dedicated corridor where advanced facial recognition and pre-registered biometric data confirm their identity. Up to 10 passengers can pass simultaneously, with verification taking as little as 14 seconds.
Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, said the technology removes the need for passport counters, smart gates, and physical checks.
This isn’t Dubai’s first AI move. In 2020, the airport introduced a smart tunnel that allowed biometric scanning without queuing. The new corridor builds on that by verifying passenger data before they even reach the checkpoint. The AI cross-checks biometric records in real time and flags anomalies instantly, letting security teams intervene only when needed.
The system is currently live in Terminal 3’s First and Business Class lounges, with wider rollout planned. Dubai officials describe the programme as Unlimited Smart Travel, signalling a move toward a passport-free future.
