Discover the Moon Land of Rajasthan
About 100 kilometers from Jaipur, the Pink City, lies the small industrial town of Kishangarh. Known for its burgeoning marble industry, this town features numerous shops displaying exquisite marble collections. Nestled within Kishangarh is an unexpected marvel: the Moon Land of Rajasthan.
Located at Dumping Yard Kishangarh, also called the Moon Land of Rajasthan, you’ll find yourself surrounded by a picturesque landscape of white snowy grounds and mounds that resemble snow hills. Marble cutting and processing generate marble waste that covers this vast expanse of land, creating the appearance of a dreamy blanket of snow..
In 2003, RICCO and the Kishangarh Marble Association devised an ingenious solution to manage the rapidly accumulating marble waste. They began disposing of marble slurry from surrounding marble processing units into a single dumping ground, ensuring a cleaner, pollution-free environment. Over time, this marble surplus has created stunning formations of snow-like plateaus and stretches of captivating white sand. The view is surreal and breathtaking.
Kishangarh’s Hidden Gem
Originally not intended as a tourist spot, the area gained attention through Instagram and has become one of Rajasthan’s best offbeat attractions. Small lakes, tall marble stones, and white trees enhance the magic of this artificial wasteland. It’s an ideal place for photography and videography, with the snowy landscape providing a whimsical Switzerland-like background. Many people conduct music videos and pre-wedding photoshoots here, making it a unique destination often missed in Rajasthan itineraries. Sunset is the best time to visit, as the mesmerizing orange sky enhances the illusion of walking on the moon.
Parking is available, and while there is no entry fee, you must obtain a token from the main dump gate before entering the dumping yard. DSLR charges apply, but you can take as many pictures and videos as you like with your mobile camera. Visiting hours are from 10 AM to 5 PM. Visitors are encouraged to maintain cleanliness and not litter or spit on the white marble ground to preserve the beauty of this offbeat attraction.
