Revised Shared Taxi Fares: Mumbai to Nashik, Shirdi, and Pune Routes

shared taxi

Travelers commuting via shared taxi from Mumbai to Nashik, Shirdi, and Pune should prepare for an adjustment in fares, ranging from ₹50 to ₹200, depending on the specific route. While the exact commencement date for the revised fares remains undisclosed, insider sources from the Regional Transport Office (RTO) hint at its likely enforcement in the upcoming month.

We will prominently display revised fare charts at various intercity shared taxi stands across key locations including Dadar, Borivali, and Sion. The decision to revise fares was guided by the recommendations put forth by the B C Khatua panel, renowned for its expertise in determining fare structures for taxis and auto rickshaws.

Recently, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority (MMRTA) greenlit the proposed fare adjustments for both shared black-and-yellow non-AC taxis and blue-and-silver AC taxis plying on these specified routes.

Under the revised fare structure, passengers opting for AC taxis departing from Mumbai can anticipate a fare increase of ₹100 for Nashik and ₹200 for Shirdi. Furthermore, both AC and non-AC taxi rides bound for Pune will incur an additional ₹50 charge.

Consequently, the new fare for AC taxis traveling from Mumbai to Nashik and Shirdi will be ₹575 and ₹825 respectively, compared to the current fares of INR 475 and INR 625. Similarly, fares for non-AC shared taxi traversing the Mumbai-Pune route will ascend to ₹500 from the previous INR 450, and for AC taxis, it will be INR 575 instead of INR 525.

The Mumbai-Pune route extends over 155 km, while the Mumbai-Nashik and Mumbai-Shirdi routes cover distances of 175 km and 265 km respectively. Notably, although the MMRTA revised taxi fares on the Mumbai-Pune route less than three years ago, fares for the Mumbai-Nashik and Mumbai-Shirdi routes have remained stagnant since September 2013.
