Initiated by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Khelo India has become a pivotal force in promoting a diverse sports culture across the country since its launch in 2021. The Winter Games will feature sports such as ice hockey, cross-country, skiing, and snowboarding. Despite the natural stronghold of northern states like Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand in winter sports, athletes from traditionally warmer regions are making noteworthy contributions.

The Winter Games cover a spectrum of disciplines, with ice hockey, cross-country, skiing, and snowboarding taking center stage. These sports have not only captivated sports enthusiasts but also attracted travelers from across India and abroad who seek to witness the adrenaline-pumping competitions.

Beyond the thrill of sports, the Khelo India Winter Games serves as an excellent platform to showcase the rich culture and warm hospitality of the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. According to the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the 4th Edition of Khelo India Games 2024 is scheduled from February 2 to 6, 2024, across two Union Territories – Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. The event will encompass competitions in seven sports, featuring the participation of 860 athletes in two picturesque venues: Gulmarg and Leh.

While Gulmarg currently experiences a snowless winter, casting some uncertainty over the Winter Games, there remains hope for the timely arrival of the much-anticipated snow, transforming Gulmarg into the perfect setting for the exhilarating Khelo India Games.
