Kerala to Launch Multi-Language Microsites to Enhance Religious Tourism
Kerala Tourism is taking significant strides in its mission to boost pilgrimage tourism by unveiling a series of microsites. These microsites are not only intended to illuminate the rich heritage of the state but also to emphasize the profound importance of its primary religious destinations.
Of particular note is a microsite dedicated to the renowned Sabarimala shrine, designed to cater to a diverse audience by offering content in multiple languages, including Hindi, English, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu.
Situated in the Pathanamthitta district, this microsite centered on the hill-shrine seeks to serve as a comprehensive resource for pilgrims who undertake the annual trek to reach the Ayyappa temple. Its primary aim is to enhance the overall pilgrimage experience and facilitate more organized journeys for these travelers.
The revamped microsite will not only provide extensive information about travel routes but will also offer valuable insights into available transportation options and nearby lodging facilities.
Furthermore, it will serve as a valuable source for the latest updates on Sabarimala darshan, offering additional information on the unique geographical features of the hill-shrine and its deep-rooted cultural traditions. This will be particularly beneficial for prospective pilgrims, allowing them to plan their itineraries with ease.
The Kerala Tourism Department has allocated a significant amount of INR 61.36 lakh for the development and maintenance of the Sabarimala microsite, following approval from the relevant working group.
Additionally, Kerala Tourism is gearing up to introduce another microsite focusing on the state’s Islamic traditions, festivals, art forms, and places of worship. This forms part of a larger digital project with a budget of INR 93.81 lakh. The department’s objective here is to contribute to the promotion and support of pilgrimage tourism within the state.
It’s worth noting that Kerala Tourism has previously introduced similar packages and initiatives dedicated to the state’s Hindu, Jewish, and Christian places of worship, all of which have been well-received. The collective efforts of the Tourism Department aim to establish Kerala as a prominent and diverse pilgrimage tourism destination.
