Konark Festival: Cultural Splendor

The Konark Festival happens yearly from December 1st to 5th at Konark’s Open Air Auditorium, near the Sun Temple. Started in 1989 by the Tourism Department and Odissi Research Centre, it’s a platform for Indian classical dancers. The festival promotes Konark and Odisha as tourist destinations, showcasing India’s diverse dance forms. It’s a chance for new artists to shine globally.

The festival features classical dance forms like Odissi, Bharatanatyam, Manipuri, Kathakali, Kathaka, Kuchipudi, and Sattriya. The event’s ambiance fills with the sounds of bells, flute, and drums. Dancers captivate visitors with graceful moves and expressive faces, especially appealing to dance enthusiasts and tourists. The festival has garnered pride for Odisha and put Konark on the global cultural map.
